EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering
The Pennsylvania State University University Park, PA
Anticipated Graduation: December 2010 Major GPA: 3.45
• Coursework Emphasis:
Biological Systems, Mathematical Modeling of Biological and Physical Systems, Transport Processes for Biological Production and Processing, Principles of Soil and Water Engineering, Engineering Elements of Biochemistry and Microbiology, Indoor Air Quality, Introduction to Environmental Engineering, Introduction to Soils, Design of Stormwater and Erosion Control Facilities, Design of Fluid Power Systems, Hydrogeology.
• Team Projects:
Design of Stormwater and Erosion Control Facilities – In a team of three, the objectives of this project were to quantify the hydrology of the Bryce Jordan Center watershed in order to design a proper Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP) that minimized the expected stormwater response, by incorporating and properly placed Low Impact Developments (LIDs) within this SWMP, as well as increasing the storage volume of the watershed and the infiltration rates.
Design of Fluid Power Systems - In a team of three, the overall objective of this design project was to create a working hydraulic systems circuit design for a Square Bale Compressor. The goal for this system was to compress a large square bale to a desired size or density, by incorporating easy transport of the square bale to and from the compressor chamber, as well as activation of the compressor chamber without risk of failure, and properly securing the square bale in place to be compressed.
Mushroom Bunker Optimization – In a team of three, the overall design objective is to determine the optimal design bunker for a mushroom growing facility. This includes determining the size of PVC pipes and blower machine using regression analysis.
EXPERIENCE: The Organic and All Natural Sisu Store and Coffee Bar 2007 – Present
Student Manager (2008-Present)
• Manage approximately 30 student employees in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Train all new employees for both the store and coffee bar. This includes training them in how to run register, stock products properly for the store, and to know how to make all drinks in the coffee bar.
• Handle inventory for all products to ensure products in demand are always kept in stock.
LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Phi Sigma Rho, Engineering Social Sorority 2006 - Present
• Membership Educator (2006 – 2007) – Oversaw the mentoring of new members joining the sorority for their 9-week associate period by providing guidance and support as they learned ...
