Engineering Cadet (May 2005-August 2005)
Stood 12 hour watches as a cadet engineer/oiler for 88 days on board the MV HOS Explorer.
The HOS Explorer was a DP-1 vessel servicing the Gulf of Mexico oil fields. During these 88 days I aided in liquid cargo transfers and performed vessel maintenance.

Engineering Cadet (May 2005-July 2005)
Returned to the Gulf of Mexico for summer work on the Explorer’s sister ship the MV HOS Voyager. I performed the same duties as described above and spent 58 days on board.

Assistant Engineer MV HOS Sandstorm (May 2007-February 2010)
Stood 12 hour watches as the engineering watch officer. During this 12 hour period I was responsible for starting and stopping of engines and auxiliary machinery, electrical power management, maintenance, stability, bunkering, and liquid cargo transfers (in port and offshore). The HOS Sandstorm was a DP-2 vessel servicing the Gulf of Mexico oil fields which provided experience in combined straight diesel and diesel-electric propulsion. The Sandstorm was an overworked vessel with a moderately effective design which gave me excellent experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving while working in a demanding environment.

3d Assistant Engineer MV HOS Strongline (February 2010-present)
Stood 12 hour watches as the engineering watch officer. During this 12 hour watch I was responsible for starting and stopping of main and auxiliary generators, propulsion and hotel power management, and maintenance.
