Design Engineer Nike |Beaverton, OR January 2012 – Present
Designed tooling and fixtures for the manufacture of Nike AIR and Nike Fly Knit footwear. Assisted design engineers with part design for Nike AIR products and created tooling from those designs. Acted as a liaison between part designers and tooling engineers and was able to effectively step in and out of roles as needed. Due to past industry experience, was able to assist project engineers with designing the new soccer shin guard so that it would be more “manufacture-able”. Researched and pursued alternative manufacturing processes for the guard with vendors in order to minimize cost and maximize strength.
Design Engineer A-dec | Newberg, OR May 2011 – January 2012
Developed complex industrial design concepts by working with industrial designers, manufacturing engineers and vendors alike. Created 3D part files in Autodesk Inventor using advanced surfacing tools to create organic shapes based on concepts from the industrial designer. Subsequent to the design process, prototypes were created for roto-molded and injection molded parts. Used injection molding price estimating skills to analyze the cost/benefits of different concepts. Lead research in alternatives to current molding processes that would reduce part price and maintain/improve quality.
