Special Projects Intern Redwood Coast Energy Authority- Eureka, CA February 2008 to Present
I have been responsible for data management related to energy efficiency programs that are administered through direct installations in residential homes. Energy savings related to the various measures (CFL lamps, faucet aerators, etc.) have been tracked for program efficacy and the rebates offered by PG&E have been managed through a novel spreadsheet approach that improved time to payment by %500. I have also prepared Greenhouse Gas inventories, pursuant to the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB32) for the County of Humboldt and the City of Eureka.
Research Experience
Research Assistant University of Iowa ¨C Iowa City, IA Summer 2007
I was competitively selected to participate in research at University of Iowa¡¯s Chemistry Department. The results of the experiments are published as ¡°Photochemistry of adsorbed nitrate¡± in the Journal of the American Chemical Society. The work I performed used high-powered photolysis of nitrates and the adsorption of nitrates on aluminoxide in the presence and absence of oxygen. I presented my research team¡¯s findings at Argonne National Laboratories Symposium for Undergraduate Research.
Research Experience for Undergraduate Truman College ¨C Chicago, IL Fall 2006 ¨C Spring 2007
I worked with faculty in self-directed research that involved testing antioxidant potential in several varieties of grapes. The work was presented in a series of poster sessions held at several of the City Colleges of Chicago, of which Truman College is one.
