Angola LNG Project – Start-Up Field Engineer June 2011- Present
• Perform pre-commissioning & commissioning activities throughout different systems in the facility. This includes air blows, nitrogen pressure testing, leak checking, EDP testing, system restoration, inerting and preservation in preparation for plant operations.
• Start-Up activities including valve lineups, defrosting cryogenic systems, propane and ethylene refrigerant loading from storage into process train heat exchangers, introduction of sweet feed gas into “cold end” and gas turbine compressor start-ups.
• Assisted and supervised in commissioning of various pump systems throughout the project. Pumps such as hot oil, amine units, and closed cooling water systems. Work activities included running, flushing, and cleaning of suction strainers, all while monitoring pressures, temperatures, levels, and constantly taking samples for lab testing.
• Operations of the warm feed gas pipeline inlet of the plant. This includes the commissioning and start-up of various feed gas pipelines into the LNG facility.
• Provide support to the Piping Department. Being familiar the current status of systems in a Live Plant situation, I assist the piping group with any intrusive work to be done in live systems. Includes line isolation, depressurizing, inerting with nitrogen, lock out tag out and permit to work. Once the work is prepared, I will provide proper materials (ie. Gaskets, blinds, valves) and supervise the work. Upon completion, leak check and restore the system for operational use.
• Very familiar and understanding of the licensed LNG Technology provided by the ConocoPhillips Optimized Cascade® Process. Understand the process of dehydration & mercury removal units, gas liquefaction using propane, ethylene, and methane refrigeration, heavies removal and gas fractionation.
• Responsible for writing, generating and installing LO/TO permit isolations, particularly for piping and mechanical work. Generate, review and process Work Authorization permits for all work that is to be performed on systems owned or controlled by Start-Up.
• Work directly with the client (ALNG) to verify and provide proper information regarding system isolations in order to keep “live” systems from migrating into systems that are still under construction and start-up activities. I was responsible for providing the client with up to date isolation blind lists for over 20 different “live” systems.
