Dulles Transit Partners, LLC (DTP) is a joint venture of Bechtel Infrastructure, Inc. and Washington Group International - two of the world's leading engineering, construction and project management companies. DTP is the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority's design-build contractor for the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project.
The Dulles Metrorail is a new 23-mile Metrorail line, extending service from the existing Orange Line at the East Falls Church station in Fairfax County, Virginia, to Route 772/Ryan Road in Loudoun County, Virginia.
My responsibilities:
• Developed load calculations for aerial stations, including wind loads, seismic loads, thermal loads, snow loads, dead loads and live loads, as required by ASCE-7, IBC, AISC, and ACI engineering codes & WMATA requirements.
• Charged with design from concept to completion of mezzanine intermediate level steel structure & masonry bearing walls.
• Design of support elements for Aerial station’s various levels like foundation, platform & Mezzanine using ASD, ACI, and PCI & AASHTO. Design consists for various materials like reinforced concrete, steel, masonry, precast etc.
• Design/review of pedestrian Bridge supports & Pavilion structure connecting to stations for all stations.
• Structural analysis of existing Box & Pipe Culverts.
• Structural review/analysis for wayside facilities modular buildings, retaining walls, underground precast vault structures.
• Design of support structure by hand calculations and software like Enercalc, Math Cad, Staad Pro, Founds, BIM, Pca Col etc.
• Review of vendor calculations and shop drawings.
• Provide supporting calculations and sketches for documentation and interface with designers/drafters to assist in the production of engineering drawings. Review of drawings done w/extensive use of Microstation and AutoCAD for client submittal.
• Participated in multi-discipline design coordination and constructability assessment with Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Civil, Bridge, Electrical, and Geotechnical teams to ensure quality final design.
