Create design packages for upgrade of barge loading safety and control system; emergency safety shutdown of oxidizer pumping; and LEL analyzer marine vapor recovery system.
SARGENT & LUNDY Wilmington, Delaware February 10 – Sept 10
Electrical/Instrumentation Designer. Upgrade security system for Dominion Power located in Virginia. Projects include design for installation of new camera systems, card readers, microwave and infra-red sensors to detect, warn and record unauthorized entry or intrusions onto the plant site. Sensing equipment, video recorders, monitors, and sensors are routed throughout the various control stations through multiplexers and fiber optics cabling. Updating wiring for controlling plant operation involving relay protection, annunciation, switchgear; designing circuits, running conduit and cable, etc.

Instrumentation Design Specialist. Loop check and troubleshoot design, and provide construction support for SO2 scrubber project on fluidzed catalyic cracker unit (FCCU). Develop system architecture for Sinofi, Glaxo-Smith-Kline, and Amgen pharmaceuticals; as well as supporting various projects including power generating and hydrocarbon processes at Valero, Delaware City Delaware; Sun Refinery Eagle Point, Westville NJ and chemical plant processes for Rohm & Haas, Bristol, Pennsylvania.

Working alongside Washington Group, International as Field Electrical/Instrument & Control Engineer at the Sithe Power Company Mystic Station, Everett, Massachusetts. Area of responsibility includes all instrumentation, and much of the electrical control installation and design. Inspecting, troubleshooting and determining the corrective action for all related equipment not complying with design or specifications. Mystic Station will be the worlds largest co-gen with four combined-cycle natural gas fired combustion turbines and heat recovery steam generators, and two steam turbines, yielding a 1500 megawatt output.
BURN & ROE Oradell, New Jersey April 01 - June 01
Start-up I & C Engineer on the Riverside Generating Project, Catlettsburg, Kentucky for Dynegy. This is a “peaking” installation consisting of three 208-megawatt Seimens Westinghouse gas turbines. Direct the loop check out and troubleshooting activities of the control system, correct design and wiring problems to achieve first fire.

Assigned to the Sun-Marcus Hook Refinery providing original design and construction support for computer controlled tank farm operation. Additionally provided design engineering services and field engineering/start-up at Sun Chemical in Philadelphia.

Project assignments included Kodak, Hoffman-La Roche, Sun Refinery, and Witco Chemical. On all projects except Witco, my efforts were in instrument and control design engineering. The Witco project was more encompassing, and included a good deal of construction support and start-up activities.
