Following college graduation, started career as a Staff Engineer specifically for the FDEP Team 5 contract that was to serve as an extension of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Petroleum Cleanup Division. Served as a regulatory manager on this contract, managing more than 50 projects. Responsibilities included technical proposal and report reviews and allocation of state funding for petroleum cleanup sites. Promoted to Associate Engineer in less than two years of starting employment with WRS. As an Associate Engineer, further responsibilities included mentoring new hires and interns and additional engineering and technical reviews under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. Designated a Remedial Action Specialist and was included during the preliminary planning stages of the FDEP’s Remedial Action Initiative (RAI). Responsibilities included assisting peer site managers with technical and engineering reviews and remediation design approvals including Remedial Action Plans, Operation and Maintenance reports, and Remediation Construction proposals and Startup Reports. Achievements included the development and management of an internal database, which tracked individual petroleum sites’ encumbrances, invoices, and site manager review turn-around. The database was used during employee evaluations by the contract management as a method of tracking performance.

• Managed a portfolio of petroleum sites for a particular medium-sized oil company for seven years as Lead Engineer. These sites are no longer cash producing sites for the oil company and the goal has been two-fold.
