Dear Sirs,
My name is Michael. I chose to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering because it was an excellent way to combine my love of science, crafting, and humanitarianism. My current job at Leslie’s Pool Supplies provides me with a small amount of this combination because I am able to diagnose and repair problems with various types of pool equipment, although I feel it is limiting my potential for personal growth and global impact.
I am excited about the opportunity to work in an authentic engineering environment. I have a lot of experience with both group and individual projects. What I’ve learned from these experiences is to visualize the project as a whole while focusing on the individual pieces in order to insure that everything comes together in the end. I apply this mindset at every opportunity, from building machines to drafting documents. My preference is to work on teams because it means having, or being, the extra pair of eyes that see’s the last little detail which makes the project shine. What makes me a valuable member to any team is my familiarity with many of the tools in the ‘engineering toolbox’ (as my professors put it), from concept generation and validation all the way to crafting prototypes. Also, I have learned and taught myself a wide variety of skills, including: woodworking, CAD modeling, casting, and engineering design. I excel at making other peoples’ visions come to life as real models whether in costuming or practical application. I will go to great lengths in order to see my work completed in a quality and timely manner.
I greatly appreciate you taking the time to consider me for this position. Please call or e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to hearing back from you.
Sincerely,
Michael
