The Laboratory of Orthopedic Design and Engineering (Clemson University) May 2012 – August 2012
Full-time Paid Undergraduate Research Assistant – Aided in the design and construction of a cadaveric knee testing rig (Oxford Knee Rig based), which is used for knee simulation.
The rig will be used to investigate the change in kinematics and contact pressure distribution between the femoral condyles after Unicondylar Knee Artroplasty procedure.
Established the protocol for collecting the key knee kinematics characteristics with which a 3D motion tracking system (Polaris Spectra from NDI)
Wrote a Matlab script to process the raw positional coordinates and produce the desired kinematic data (Anterior/Posterior, Medial/Lateral, Internal/External Rotation, and Flexion Angle) to be analyzed
Assembled key components of the knee rig such as counter weights, alignment components, linear bearing components as well as developing hamstring muscle simulation.
Performed Literature reviews on the validation of the knee rig and hamstring simulation.

Undergraduate Research Assistant – Detected stance and swing phases during level and slope walking in cats, taking into account the slope of the path, injury endured by the cat and the method of kinematic detection.
