Professional Experience
Director of Engineering – Global Defense Engineering
Directed a department of engineers, designers, drafters, and technicians responsible for all aspects of new product development from concept to in-service technical support. Developed and maintained written standard operational policies and procedures for the Engineering Department in accordance with ISO-9001/2000 requirements. Oversaw all technical aspects of design development and ongoing product engineering, either directly as Lead Project Engineer or indirectly as reviewer and director of other Lead Project Engineers under my direction.
Was fundamental in the transition of the largely service-oriented company into the leading developer and manufacturer of mobile military support equipment. Developed the team, tools, and capabilities that allowed rapid development, prototype construction, and transition to production required to support U.S. military needs during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Test Engineer Consultant
Provided developmental test and evaluation support to the development of a remotely-operated nuclear waste remediation system. Testing primarily involved evaluation of the high-capacity pumps and water system used to break up contaminated soluble solids and remove them from underground storage containers. Developed test methodologies and procedures, designed test fixtures, assembled test instrumentation, conducted tests, and evaluated test data. Evaluations included power consumption, water and waste flow rates, control effectiveness, and other critical parameters.
Design Engineer Consultant - Lockheed Martin Aero & Naval Systems
Responsible for the development of the hydraulic system and supported the development of the control software for two remotely controlled earth movers. The excavator was developed for the Aberdeen Proving Grounds to remove unexploded ordinance by an operator located a safe distance from the excavator. Oversaw the modification of the hydraulic systems on an excavator and dozer to allow the equipment to be operated either locally or remotely via RF links.
