• Worked in the Power Generation Services group as part of a 24x7 team of Monitoring & Diagnostic Engineers dedicated to assisting power generating sites world-wide .
• Involved GE product services engineers and contract managers to deliver recommendations for increased reliability and availability to customer operators, plant engineers and plant managers.
• Performed root cause analysis on events which caused gas turbines to fail to start or to trip offline using operational data with P&IDs and controller files to make recommendations on preventing further down-time.
• Standardized the RCA process for ~50% of possible events that could result in a gas turbine tripping offline, resulting in decreased response time and higher quality resolutions.
• Analyzed vibration and combustion data flagged by analytics to identify issues during turbine operation. Worked with subject matter experts when necessary for proper diagnosis.
• Saved ~5 million dollars annually for customers by making recommendations to prevent down-time.
• Combustion: Diagnosed hardware damage using exhaust temperature and combustion dynamics data to make recommendations concerning inspection scheduling, scope and timing. Used combustion dynamics data to schedule tuning, preventing hardware damage and unplanned down-time. Validated a lean blowout signature using combustion dynamics to prevent unplanned down-time through proactive tuning.
• Controls: Became familiar with the Mark VI and VIe controller configurations and used controller files to troubleshoot issues. Took courses through GE on classical systems theory, classical controls theory, modern controls, model based controls, and GE control systems.
• Earned a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt by writing an analytic to detect badly calibrated or failing ambient pressure sensors, decreasing overfiring and increasing time between outages.

• Worked with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians on x-ray mirror technologies to promote further advancement and discoveries in astrophysics.
• Optimized various parameters of closed-loop UV cure bonding. Developed and executed experiments to minimize UV energy required for adequate bonding for sub-micron stability. Gained experience with nano-actuators to measure sub-micron displacement, and with force gauges to test bond strength.
