Resume

OBJECTIVE
To gain more experience in the chemical process engineering discipline by diversifying by experience. I would be greatly interested in working on any new facility and field including but not limited to; oil and gas, mining, wastewater treatment, and nuclear power. I would like a chemical process engineering design or field position utilizing my experience studying and working in nuclear and chemical process engineering. I have learned a lot during my time at the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant and I have enjoyed my experiences, but it is time to gain more experience in other fields. I am currently in the process of studying for and obtaining my Professional Engineering (PE) License.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE
I am a highly motivated individual who is known for getting difficult tasks done on schedule and within budget with an exemplary quality level. I am also a quick learner and consider myself to work best under a fair amount of pressure. I enjoy taking on new process engineering tasks and working with other process engineers (and other disciplines) to achieve a high quality work product. Here is a list below of what I believe my areas of expertise to be:

 Cesium Ion Exchange System
 Computer Software: Excel (expert), Aspen Plus, Word (expert), Hysys, Visio
 Evaporator Design and Operations
 Fluid Flow
 Hanford Tank Waste Chemistry
 Heat Transfer Analysis
 Hydraulic Analysis
 Instrumentation and Controls
 Mass and Energy Balances
 Materials Selection
 Nuclear Chemical Process Engineering
 Nuclear Chemical Waste Plant Design and Operations
 Physical, Chemical, and Transport Property Development
 Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams
 Process Flow Diagrams
 Startup Procedures
 Ultrafiltration System

WORK EXPERIENCE
Bechtel Inc. May 2007 - Current
Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) - Richland, WA
Process Engineering Group
I have authored and checked multiple calculations, reports, studies, and memorandums related to process engineering. In tandem I have interfaced with senior chemical engineers, management, and other disciplines (E&NS, Mechanical, Plant Design, Operations, etc.) and have utilized my chemical and nuclear engineering experience and hard work ethic to provide high quality work on schedule and within budget. The following is a list of some accomplishments:
• Authored Contract Deliverable 2.11 Report - Analyzed the ability of WTP to receive appreciable separable organics in terms of designability, processability, permittability, and safety. It determined that “no visual immiscible layer” could be allowed into the Facilty without requiring additional controls and monitoring instrumentation. DOE agreed with this report and its conclusion, which consequently saved time and money for the project.
• Authored Process Engineering Analyses for the “Direct LAW Feed” Option - Developed a list of process requirements and an extensive process flow diagram (PFD) for allowing low active waste feed directly from Tank Farms into the WTP LAW Facility. My supervisor was impressed with the quick turnaround and high quality of the work I produced.
• Lead the Verification & Validation (V&V) of the steady state mass and energy balance software (Aspen Process Performance Simulation). This effort was praised by colleagues, management, and external auditors for the extensive V&V performed and the effective leadership required to direct multiple people while delivering a quality product.
• Authored the CXP System Description - Acted as the primary author for development of the Cesium Ion Exchange Process (CXP) System Description. This report detailed the functions, requirements, equipment design, operations (including startup and off-normal), maintenance, test objectives, and interfaces of the system. I had to compile information from hundreds of documents and develop new information (e.g., PFDs, valve alignment diagrams, hydraulic diagrams) to detail how the CXP system will work. I received a “Taking Pride” award for the work completed.
• CXP System Design - Actively participated in the design effort of the CXP system. I was assigned to research and recommend a filter for a slurry stream. I extensively worked with vendors to determine the best type of filter for our process. I determined that a backwashable sintered metal filter was the best suited for our process.
• Co-Authored Process Corrosion Data Sheets - Worked with process and material engineers to develop reports documenting the normal and maximum chemical/physical pr...
