Project and Design Engineer, L-3 Communications (FKA Northrop Grumman EOS) - Tempe, AZ 2005 - Current
Night Vision Experience
• Responsibilities encompass design, development, sourcing, inspection, qualification, production and, failure analysis of image intensifier assemblies from component level through assembly.
• Provide solutions to packaging schemes and production/test tooling to reduce cost and time to market while improving quality. Gather and analyze data to support solution implementation including design characteristics, risk assessment, trade study, schedule and, return on investment. Identify and outline milestones and related key factors associated with the project objective.
• Implement improvements to production through alpha/beta runs while monitoring yield and process characteristics. Convey results through weekly status updates. Update process instructions and provide guidance and direction to the team. Support training of technicians and operators. Mentor engineers, designers, technicians and, operators.
Infrared Experience
• Provided oversight and direction with infrared technology transfer from L3 to our customer.
• Responsible Engineering Authority for manufacturing, testing, assembling, and product development of infrared camera imaging systems from detector fabrication through Dewar assembly/Electronics assembly, test and, shipment.
• Generate Statements of Work (SOW) including schedules and price models to meet budgetary constraints and Customer requirements providing enhanced functionality and manufacturability of thermal imaging systems.
• Maintain daily Customer communications to provide System Repair and overall project status, included is project cost and technical performance, schedule adherence, and milestone review.
• Review all test data and provide disposition, support manufacturing documentation and, develop strategies to solve project problems by providing daily direction for on going processing and/or repair of assemblies, subassemblies and, component level work.
• Efforts include architecture design, development, documentation, assembly tooling, assembly instructions, vendor/customer interaction and, adherence to scheduling. Analysis activities include thermal, structural, tolerancing, and processing.
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Contractor), General Dynamics C4 Systems - Scottsdale, AZ 2004-2005
• Work within a team of engineers, designers, and technicians developing military communication equipment utilized at deployment for secure in route information exchange between command and field during training and combat situations.
• Functional, environmental, shock and vibration testing of packaged military communication equipment.
• Responsibilities include review and assessment of cabling documentation, storage case procurement, component placement, drawing release, participation in customer design reviews, general manufacturing and inspection support, and conduct of all aspects of engineering change processes from initiation to completion.
Senior Product Development Engineer, General Electric (FKA Parallel Design) - Tempe, AZ 1999-2004
• Lead a team of engineers, designers, and technicians in medical ultra-sound transducer prototype and product development; assembly fabrication, component specifications, engineering drawings, product debug and verification testing, first article acceptance, full documentation release packages and manufacturing support.
• Responsibilities included design concept review, project management, technical support for part transitions, participation in customer internal design reviews, general support to manufacturing inspection and test.
• Conducted all aspects of an engineering change processes from initiation to completion Define/recommend package solution which met device performance, reliability, manufacturability, time to market cost, and customer needs.
• Created and presented technical documentation.
• Analyzed and provided innovative solutions to complex problems.

• Designed and developed a lens rub fixture utilizing a loading mechanism and stepper motor to establish a base line for transducer lens life.
• Designed developed and procured components for a temperature and humidity controlled chamber (controller, descant system, software) for testing and evaluation of cure cycle times for transducer processing. Created procedures and trained personnel.
