MATERIALS ENGINEERING PROJECTS
Senior Project - Alternative quantum dot synthesis method:
• Developed and characterized a new method for synthesizing quantum dots using a microfluidic reactor and a fluorescence flow cell.
• Tested a variety of flow rates to produce quantum dots of a precise fluorescence spectrum.
• Produced distinct quantum dot sizes with greater accuracy compared to conventional bulk synthesis.
• Incorporated a flow cell to allow for real-time data analysis and limited sample consumption.
Solar Cell Project:
• Developed design for both aluminum and gold contacts integrated into two fully functional solar cells.
• Performed a variety of processing techniques on each wafer in a highly sanitary clean room.
• Conducted performance testing in the areas of resistance and power to characterize each solar cell.
Design and Testing of Nitinol Satellite Antenna:
• Designed miniature compartment to deploy superelastic nickel-titanium alloy antenna aboard a “nano”-cube satellite.
• Characterized phase transition temperatures of Nitinol alloy to ensure optimum performance in LEO orbit conditions.
