EXPERIENCE/ LEADERSHIP:
Training Ship - Empire State
• Summer Sea Terms: Successfully completed one 45 day and one 90 day voyage for compliance of USCG License Requirements.
• Freshman Engineering Training Instructor: In charge of teaching freshman engineers the basic engineering knowledge to prepare them for their first summer sea term, which includes tracing sessions, watch standing, ship familiarization, and basic engineering concepts.
• Head Engineering Lab Instructor: Taught a freshman engineering lab on the training ship for Intro to Ship Systems course.
• Boiler and Auxiliary Rate: Given responsibility and leadership role as boiler and auxiliary systems work rate on senior summer sea term to oversee daily operational duties. Worked extensively with the first and second engineer on a daily basis, as well as being in charge of underclass engineering cadets.
Military Sealift Command: USNS Richard E. Byrd
• Cadet Observer Assignment: Accepted by the engineering department to complete a summer internship as an engineering cadet MSC dry cargo and ammunition ship for 70 days in the South China Sea.
• Cadet Observer Project: Wrote a 250 page engineering manual for the ship to which I was assigned.
• High Voltage Safety Class: While on board the ship I completed a high voltage safety awareness course, required for diesel electric propulsion plants.
