- Relevant Courses

BioE 401 - Bioengineering Design Theory (Part I of year long senior design project)
Class focused on principles of design theory and their application to medical device design. Covered materials selection, fabrication processes, performance standards, cost analysis, design optimization and FDA requirements (CFR, PMA, 510k, QS, GMPs, etc). Outside of class our design team worked with three pediatric surgeons to address and solve a clinical problem they encountered. Completed an extensive design proposal including: analysis of clinical need, description of proposed design, analysis of market need and potential, anticipated regulatory pathways, and risk analysis and research. Defended design proposal in written and oral form before a faculty jury.

BioE 403 - Applied Biomedical Design (Part II of year long senior design project)
Hands on application of bioengineering and design principles to solve clinically relevant design problems. Implementation of design proposal including: CAD design models, prototype production plans, proposed budget and timelines, multiple prototype productions, predicate and prior art patent reviews, FDA analysis and standards review, and verification and validation of the final design. Data from both semesters were catalogued and entered into a DHF. Presented written and oral update reports to a faculty jury and culminated with an end of year professional presentation at senior symposium.

EG 208 - Engineering Graphics and Machine Design
Intro to engineering graphics and machine design using Solidworks program. Topics included 2D and 3D sketching, parts, assemblies, rapid prototyping, drawings, GD&T, BOMs, motion studies, and FEA through various activities, homeworks, small projects, and a large final design project. Practical application of Solidworks was also continued through my senior design project.
