Objective:
To acquire a full time position in the field of Aeronautical Engineering
Education:
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Troy, NY
Graduation: May 2013
B.S. Aeronautical Engineering
Research:
Direct Numerical Simulations of Combustion with Swirl and Vortex Breakdown for Future Environmentally Friendly Gas Turbine Engines |
May 2011 - June 2013
•Using Fortran and MATLAB, collaborated with Professor Zvi Rusak to develop numerical simulations of combustion with swirl and induced vortex breakdown in an aircraft engine combustion chamber. By studying the properties of the flame created from varying amounts of induced vortex and fuel in the engine, we gathered data towards the development of a gas turbine with lowered greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions.
Skills:
Classical Fortran, MATLAB, MS Office, CAD(NX6, SolidWorks), Abaqus, Minitab, Java.
Fluid dynamics, analysis of static/dynamic systems, machining/welding experience, statistical analysis.
Fluent in reading and writing Korean.
Coursework:
Air Vehicle Design
Spring 2013
• Designed a “Flying Man” plane that allows powered flight in a prone position without a cockpit.
• Learned how to design an airplane from scratch and match aircraft performance to customer. requirements and FAA requirements for experimental airplanes.
• Learned how to write technical design reports and performance reviews.
• Used Matlab and other engineering software extensively to optimize design of aircraft.
Introduction to Engineering Design | Fall 2010
• Designed and built a vertical wind turbine in collaboration with engineering team.
•Learned how to design engineering project schedules through Gantt charts
• Gained machining, welding, and soldering experience.
