• Use of AutoCAD Mechanical plans and total station for construction layout and development of as-built drawings of 2200 ft slope for underground coal mine and on the surface.
• Develop innovative ways of implementing designs in field conditions.
• Plan/assist in planning of mine excavation, ventilation plans, and construction schedule for crews of up to eight members.
• Prepare monthly billing estimates for multi-million dollar project and write change orders for deviations from original contract.
• Inventory and maintain stock of construction supplies.
Transportation Engineer
North Carolina Department of Transportation – Concord, Charlotte, Raleigh, Plymouth, NC.
January 2011 to March 2013
• Use of total station/GNSS and data collector for right of way stake out and creation of best fit alignment maps for use in design of highway improvement projects across fourteen counties.
• Use of GNSS for underwater mapping of bridge structures to determine scour after extreme weather events and ferry routes for dredging projects.
• Cost/Quantity Estimation: Cut/Fill calculations and highway maintenance quantity estimates as well as reviewing bids from contractors for cost verification. Use of aerial photography and field observation for the estimation of quantities for county-wide highway resurfacing projects, including asphalt, thermoplastic markings, reflectors, etc.
