EXPERIENCE
AguaClara Spring 2011 – Present
AguaClara is a project team that designs gravity-powered, sustainable water treatment plants for Honduran communities which are currently providing clean water to over 20,000 Honduran citizens (www.aguaclara.cornell.edu).
Design Spring 2012 – Present
• Spring 2012: Performed a cost analysis to find the optimal number of sedimentation tanks given a certain flow rate. Added a function into the AguaClara design code which automatically chooses the optimal number of sedimentation tanks
• Summer 2012 to Present: Designing a Low Flow AguaClara Water Treatment Plant. The current design requires many design changes in order to be able to scale down to treat water for towns with a population of hundreds. The design is being coded into Mathcad so that, given a certain flow rate, an automated AutoCAD drawing of the plant can be produced.
Research Spring 2011 – Fall 2012
• Member of the Turbidimeter Research Team.
• Helped invent an inexpensive turbidity measuring device used to test potential water treatment sources.
LEADERSHIP
Design Team Leader Fall 2013 – Present
• Organize and provide efficient training sessions for MathCAD, AutoCAD, and the Design Tool
• Provide specific and detailed tasks that the design team will work on during the semester
• Organize the design team into groups/pairs to work on challenges
• Provide design team members with guidance in order for them to accomplish their task
• Grade and edit reports submitted by the design team members
Team Leader Spring 2012 – Spring 2013
