I'm a Chemical Engineer and Master’s on Industrial Engineering with +10 years of experience on the steel industry; I live in the Mansfield, Ohio area.
At the moment I’m working for the company Fives DMS Surface Treatment, part of the Fives Group Steel Division (www.fivesgroup.com) as Process Engineer.
My main Duties in the company as Process engineer are to perform mass and energy balances calculations to design Pickling and de-greasing lines for Flat and long products for different carbon and stainless steel grades, calculate and size equipment like pumps , heat exchangers, exhaust fans and blowers, waste water treatment plants and Fume gas treatment systems. Produce P&ID diagrams, process flow diagrams, Valves lists, Instrument List, equipment lists, Equipment Specifications, pipe sizing, etc.
As a pickling line specialist I’m in charge to commission and tune up of new pickling lines, define the proper parameters to process the steel and meet the requirements of the customer.
For R&D , I have worked with the Furnace division to find better ways to treat the steel materials like Ultra high Strength Steel, Stainless steel alloys like duplex, 400, 300, 200 series. Additional lines of Research includes, new chemicals to pre pickling of steel on a laboratory stage for further scaling up to an actual production plant in cooperation with some of our customers, also testing of acid less pickling process for steel flat products.
