Mr K. has over 20 years of engineering experience pertaining to the operations, maintenance, and repair of Diesel Engines Steam Boilers/Turbines, and Gas Turbines. He has proven detail-oriented experience which has resulted in completion of high-priority maintenance jobs and compliance tasks ahead of fast-paced schedules with a positive outcome. Chief Engineer (1992 to 2012), Horizon Lines, LLC, Oakland, California. ISO-9000 company:
- Performed vessel operation/maintenance, repair and overhaul on main and auxiliary steam boilers/turbines, diesel engines, and associated engine and deck equipment (including cargo systems).
- Prepared specifications for shipyard and major repair activities, and generating reports after major repairs, dry dockings and equipment surveys.
- Researched, specified, purchased and coordinated delivery of vessel equipment, supplies, parts and services.
- Implemented procedures, maintenance of documentation in compliance with the regulatory and statutory requirements of USCG, ABS, flag state, port state, classification society, International Maritime Organization (including International Safety Management system).
- Managed annual operation budget of $1.7 million and $11 million fuel purchases.
- Developed preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for equipment including semi-annual overhaul. Maintain and ensure the quality control of the ship’s Preventive Maintenance System (NS5).
- Trained personnel in all phases of vessel operations, maintenance, repair and safety (SMS).
- Extensive experience at-sea aboard Container ships, Tankers, Bulk Carries, Ferries, and Research vessels.

NAES Maintenance Manager, MIT (MA Institute of technology) CUP (Central Utility Plant).
- Oversaw maintenance and repair of plant facilities and equipment of 20MW Siemens CGT, 33,000 Ton Capacity Steam/Elec. Chillers and 6 steam boilers. (Interim position: April to August 2013)
- Managed implementation of Maintenance Program and identified items needing improvement
- Worked with plant operating staff to assure plant facilities and equipment were maintained in a safe and efficient operating condition at all times.
- Implemented preventive and predictive maintenance program, including equipment failure records and trends. Performed root cause analysis (RCA) & corrective action report (CAR) as needed.
- Provided task lists and schedules for plant maintenance personnel and contractor for normal operating periods, planned outage periods, and forced outage situations.
- Maintained the plant's Maintenance Manuals, kept vendor maintenance and repairs filed and up to date
- Oversaw the issuance of purchase requisitions and purchase orders and inventory control.
- Responsible for following all procedures for Procurement and monthly/annual inventory reporting
