Senior design project, University of South Florida:
Proposal, design, and cost analysis for an interface which takes a small amount of water above its critical point from a power plant for use in a neighboring downstream process, such as extraction of liquid hydrocarbon products from coal, or biomass gasification. Upon leaving the process, it is purified through reverse osmosis and deionization units and returned to the power cycle so that it can be brought back up to the required temperature and pressure. This design may be implemented into a new supercritical power plant or retrofitted to an existing one, such as General James M. Gavin Power Plant in Cheshire Ohio.
