PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
GeoEye/Digital Globe 1999 – 2013
Herndon, Virginia
Senior Manager, Satellite Operations 2012 – 2013
Create, verify and execute image mission plans for the GeoEye-1 earth imaging spacecraft using Satellite Tool Kit and custom built software tools maintaining greater than 98 percent satellite availability throughout a contract year where the norm is 95 percent.
Trained and supervised team of three GeoEye-1 mission planners fostering ingenuity in the automation of manually intense spacecraft image planning activities that resulted in a tenfold reduction of man hours required to complete image planning tasks.
Created, implemented and maintained a training and certification program for the satellite operations department ensuring all satellite and ground station operators are trained and current in positional job knowledge and overall system knowledge.
Assisted with build-out and relocation of the GeoEye headquarters satellite operations control center by testing, validating and implementing backup command and control functions in Colorado. Executed test and validation of ground systems at the new headquarters facility allowing the successful transition of operations to occur without interruption.
Assisted the director of satellite operations with daily, weekly and monthly statistical metrics data collection, reporting companywide the information.
Scheduled and executed GeoEye-1 spacecraft maneuvers required for altitude and inclination accuracy and for collision avoidance when warranted.
Mission Manager, Satellite Operations 2006 – 2012
Performed all OrbView-3 spacecraft engineering and anomaly resolution from 2005 through the controlled de-orbit of the spacecraft over a four month period in 2011.
Developed and standardized procedures for spacecraft commanding, anomaly response and ground station configuration for launch and operational activities across the satellite operations department.
Provided operations support in the recovery of the GeoEye-1 spacecraft antenna pointing assembly anomaly enabling continued collection and downlink of imagery data.
Participated in GeoEye-1 spacecraft pre-launch, launch, and early orbit check out including participation in preliminary and critical design reviews, overseeing acceptance testing, system validation of ground hardware\software and validation of databases.
Performed all OrbView-2 spacecraft engineering and anomaly resolution duties facilitating annual contract renewals with the costumer due to the high level of data availability and spacecraft reliability.
Performed a 13 burn orbit raising campaign for the 13 year old OrbView-2 spacecraft using MAESTRO command and control and IS OASIS flight dynamics software.
Lead Space and Ground Segment Controller 2003 – 2006
Implemented numerous operational workarounds with command and control systems and ground systems to circumvent system deficiencies. These workarounds were required due to the demands placed on OrbView...
