Manuel
North Carolina (US Citizen)
Aerospace/Mechanical/Test Engineer with about 9 years of experience designing and testing Electromechanical Systems in the Aviation/Aerospace Industry.
My expertise is designing Electro-Mechanical Systems and Test Fixtures using CATIAv5, Solidworks, and ProE. I have CAD experience in conceptual design using aerospace materials, System Assemblies & Sub-Assemblies management, kinematics, and electro-mechanical component designs, kinematic, and clash analysis in which reduced companies cost and lead time. Also experienced in DO-160 Testing, writing documents, designed test fixtures, and performed tests.
For each project, I took ownership, detailed design and GD&T analysis, and accountability in the quality of my work and worked with a team of individuals from multiple departments. Experienced in a dynamics and aggressive cross functional projects that has developed my multi-tasking skills. Also have extensive experience in AS9100 standards.
Employment
UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) - Fire Protection Systems Wilson, NC - Feb 2014 to Nov 2014
Aerospace Test Engineer, Contract
Performed development and written RTCA DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 test documents based on customer requirements and aerospace standards for Embraer, Airbus, Bombardier, Mitsubishi, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and UTAS Goodrich.
Kidde Aerospace and Defense and Fenwal fire detection and fire extinguishing systems for engines assemblies, A/C frame, and interior installation.
• Communicated with customer to edit and write Qualification Test Plans, Qualification Test Procedures, and Qualification Test Reports.
• Performed laboratory verification tests, analyzed/interpreted and compiled data, and written test and incident reports.
o Environmental Testing such as Temperature, Pressure, Dynamic Vibration profiles, Fluids, Corrosion, and Radio Frequency Emission Tests.
o Used and utilized lab instrumentation and recorded lab tools and test specimens for test reports.
• Released multiple documents to meet customers testing schedules.
AAR Cargo System Goldsboro, NC - Dec 2010 to Sep 2013
Mechanical Design Engineer and Lead Test Engineer, Contract
Designed and Tested the Electro-Mechanical Cargo Restraining System for the Airbus A400M aircraft interior. Using standards: MIL-HDBK-516B, CFR 14, Part 23 and Part 25.
System consisted of motors, actuators, proximity sensors, electronic components, rubber parts, springs, drive shaft, shielded cables, and gear for military/commercial cargo aircrafts.
• Designed and Tested the Electro-Mechanical Cargo Restraining System for the A400M interior using CATIA and Solidworks.
o Designed and tested the last iteration and customer approved Ramp Restraining System for the A400M, which lead to a patented design and security of the A400M contract.
o Designed test fixtures and tools for R&D, Static Load, and FAA Qualification Tests. My contribution saved AAR about $850,000 and 9 months from outsourcing designing.
▪ Static Load Testing: Worked with Stress Engineering and Test Facility to devise test equipment and test setup. Created and documented test setup consisted strain gages locations, load cells utilization, and thermocouples placement and types.
o Supported Quality and Production departments by designing, troubleshooting, and updating Production Go-No Go Test fixtures. This ensured delivery and revenue. Also led to Lead Test Engineering promotion.
o Updated and troubleshooting Cargo Restraining System by analyzing System Assemblies Clash Analysis and component movements. Findings help save the company about $2,000,000 and 8 months in production cost and time.
o GD&T tolerance analysis for the cargo’s mechanical and electrical restraining assemblies. Results were written and presented to management and to the customer.
o Performed hand calculation for initial stress analysis during designing and worked with Stress Engineers to optimize and improve designs.
o Analyzed Static Load Test data and updated and improved Ramp/Cargo components and test fixture designs, written Incident Reports with troubleshooting solutions, presented data to management and customers for approval, and updated/release documents.
• Reports that I managed and developed were: Quality Test Procedures and Reports for DO-160 and MIL-STD-810, System level documents, Root-Cause reports with troubleshooting solutions, Static Load Procedures, Customer Data Delivery Preparation Procedures, CATIA Performance Screen Test for new Designer Candidates, Engineer Change documents, Manufacturing/Assembly Instructions, AMSE/GD&T, and Kinematics CATIA, Solidworks, and AutoCAD drawings, and CATIA/Solidworks Models.
• Created and managed complex solid models, elaborate mechanical/electrical assemblies, and drawings from components to overall system assemblies and layout under ASME Y14.5M and GD&T standards.
• Interpreted Finite Element Analysis and updated solid models as well as managed assemblies and drawings.
• Updated drawings with the understanding with various aerospace materials, surface treatments, allowable tolerances for stress for static and dynamic loads, and with manufacture processes in consideration.
• Utilized DOORs to verify, update, and write system documents that pertained to multiple customer requirements as well as aviation standards.
