Applied Experience
Research Assistant: Carleton University (Sep 2012 – April 2014)
• Undertook and led research in ultrasound imaging with the guidance of Carleton’s most prestigious instructors Dr. Christopher Joslin and Dr. Yuu Ono
• Researched and conducted a literature review about: Various medical imaging modalities in general and about ultrasound imaging specifically, Motion tracking in ultrasound using various methods, Image registration and Extending the field-of-view of ultrasound imaging
• Analyzed different methods that could be used to track the motion of the ultrasound probe
• Succeeded in tracking the motion of the ultrasound probe using a sensor-less method which uses image processing techniques (Digital Signal Processing)
• Implemented different functions on MATLAB to track the motion of the ultrasound probe
• Tested the developed algorithms by designing and conducting several experiments
• Extended the field-of-view of ultrasound imaging by devising a method to stitch the separate ultrasound images obtained by moving the probe
• Reached the goal of the research of improving the visualization through ultrasound images
• Wrote a thesis about this research which is published under the name of “Motion Estimation and Registration of B-Mode Ultrasound Images for Improved Visualisation”
Systems Analyst/Programmer Analyst: Carleton University (Sep 2012 – April 2013)
Visual Hand Tracking for Robot Manipulator Control in Tele-operation Applications:
• Implemented a vision based interface system to control a robot at a remote site by providing the hand gestures that would be needed to complete a specific task
• Tracked hand motion using Vicon MX system at the motion capture l...
