Experience
Graduate Research Assistant in Microfluidics Lab, University of Pennsylvania
The goal was to create a portable, cost effective and a self-sustaining device that would be used to detect pathogen concentration. This device can be used in conditions with minimum facilities. Role ranged from mechanical prototyping and electronic design to software and data analysis. Project components included
Self-Contained Portable Heater and Motor Jan 2015-May 2015
• Designed and built mechanical model of heater and motor stand using AutoCAD software (SolidWorks).
• Designed electronic circuit for the heater to make it completely self-contained.
Nucleometer Aug 2014-Feb 2015
• Created partial differential models of diffusion analysis for Fluorescence amplification in Nucleometer.
• Performed statistical analyses like curve fitting and regression analyses of parameter concentration values for several instances of distance and time.
Collaborative research on Data Analysis of HIV Clades Apr 2014-Dec 2014
• Performed image acquisition and processing of Lab on a Chip data for HIV Clade using MATLAB.
• Created a standalone executable file which performed Video analysis of Clade data to determine concentration.
Effects of Temperature Variation on Fluorescence of Dyes Sept 2013-Apr 2014
• Fabricated chips using CNC milling machine
• Conducted LAMP experiments on PCR machine and chip with EvaGreen dye.
• Utilized software Dino-capture to get experimental data and performed parameter modelling.
• Designed MATLAB code to catch detection channels using image analysis, and performed Statistical Modelling.
Graduate Experience
Micro-Electromechanical Device Spring 2014
• Developed an innovative idea that uses microfluidics and electro-wetting to design a MEMS medical device capable of transferring fluids in the range of nano-litres. This would be a 100 fold improvement from current standards. In a team of 4, modeled and simulated the working of this device.
Mechatronics Fall 2014
• In a team of 4, created a self-balancing robot balancing on 2 wheels that uses PIC control, and automated robot playing hockey, using laser cut parts, 3D printed parts, ATMega 32U4 microcontroller, and other electronic parts.
Entrepreneurship Spring 2015
• Performed technology, financial, market, customer and industry analyses, and made a business plan for hypothetical medical device startup and pitched to a panel of VCs, acclaimed as the best presentation.
Undergraduate Project July 2012-Apr 2013
