Project Engineer
Responsible for interfacing with various contractors to resolve design issues in timely and cost effective ways for a variety of structural projects in this multi-million dollar, unique build / operate uranium enrichment plant.
• Integral member of the team responsible for all engineering activities pertinent to the on-time/under-budget completion of the $1 billion dollar Phase 3
project.
• Produced, reviewed, and revised design documents including design changes, drawing revisions, calculations, specifications and procedures.
• Structural analysis and design on various projects including:
- Designed the seismic supports for a large overhead diesel generator silencer required for ASCE 7-02 code compliance.
- Utilized SAP 2000 software to model and design rigid frame supports for multiple heavy-duty, high-voltage transformer bus duct’s path into utility structure, successfully correcting some design oversights.
- Conducted impact evaluation for ‘worst case’ risk analysis for an existing tilt-up panel’s capacity to resist puncture and verified finite element modeling using ANSYS with structural consultant to ensure accuracy.
- Analyzed the postulated impact loading of HVAC equipment falling onto reinforced concrete roof allowing the successful crane operation above the enrichment facility.
- Designed a base plate and anchorage requirements for the relocation of an overhead telescoping PA speaker system to reinforced concrete to correct original design oversight.
