Intern, (February 2015-Present)
• Collected and filtered water samples and cultured the microorganisms on selective media followed by Polymerase Chain Reaction with specific source tracking primers such as cow and human primers.
• Gathered concentrations of total and fecal coliform bacteria such as E. coli and Enterococcus spp. in runoff water from the Los Angeles River and the San Gabriel Riverside Watersheds.
• Identified and determined relationships between pathogen abundance and seasonal changes as well as physical parameters of runoff water combined with flow rate data.
